Life:
I live in a remote lakeshore cabin in Wisconsin with two dogs.
I'm a computer game developer currently working to release ChipWits II--an upgrade to a classic game I wrote (with Mike Johnston) for the Mac in 1984.
I am writing an online novel, Operation American Freedom..
While I was a fifth grade teacher I taught myself programming with Apple IIs borrowed from school. I wrote two hit games in the mid-80s: ChipWits, and Cinemaware's King of Chicago. I coded and managed in Microsoft Research's Virtual Worlds Group in the mid-90s.
I am partners with my beautiful but criminally insane daughter Margaret Sharp in the computer game company Channel Zilch.
My life has been punctuated by years of downtime due to a recurrent epilepsy/pain syndrome. Exotic cognitive states are commonplace in my fiction. I am an involuntary hermit. The quiet of the North Woods allows me to work.

It’s 2013 and George W. Bush leads a band of American insurgents against Chinese/Iranian occupation forces. It’s hard work.

- President Limbaugh becomes the ChIranian’s puppet for an endless supply of Oxycontin.
- Fred Phelps’ church stops picketing soldiers’ funeral and dirty-bombs American cities.
- Blackwater buys the Department of Defense.
- George W. Bush cements his place in history with a bloody cover-up.

Hel's Bet
HEL’S BET is a fast-paced, 135k word alternate history of the present. The heroes of HEL’S BET steal the prototype space shuttle Enterprise, smuggle it into Russia, and blast into space on an embezzled Energia rocket. NASA launches a mission to hunt them down. The crew think they are launching a pirate video space station but once in orbit the real agenda emerges: to kickstart the Singularity.
Heloise Chin is the brains behind the mission. She has engineered herself to be The Pinup Grrrl for the Geek Rapture to hype her message, an upgraded Pascal’s Wager, Hel’s Bet: “Work for the Singularity to increase your odds of living indefinitely. Don’t bother if you have a taste for dirt.”
